COVER STORY
EYES SET TO KILL: Alexia Rodriguez is a shy woman. Despite being the leader, head songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist of Eyes Set to Kill, it is sometimes extremely difficult for the 22-year-old to express her true emotions in conversation. And now, Rodriguez is at her most honest on Eyes Set to Kill’s third full-length Broken Frames, where she finds herself struggling with intrapersonal changes, religion, and a mentor’s apparent suicide. Although Rodriguez doesn’t normally open up about her personal and professional life without a guitar and microphone, this kind soul is slowly getting more comfortable spilling her guts to a lucky few.

IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWS
AS I LAY DYING has delivered some of the most visceral, exhilarating, and thought provoking music the metalcore genre has thrust into existence. Their fifth album, The Powerless Rise, sees them continue in this tradition, churning out 11 seriously pummeling tracks. We caught up with Tim Lambesis to get the inside story on the making of The Powerless Rise, his thoughts on the future of the band, and reflections on As I Lay Dying’s position as a Christian metal act that has remained true to its beliefs.

BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE: Critics be damned. This is what Welsh metal outfit Bullet for My Valentine stresses on Fever, the quartet’s third album. Fever is the follow-up to the massive and intense Scream Aim Fire, a release that brought the band’s focus on fast and melodic metal to the forefront. Headbangers needn’t worry, however, as drummer Michael “Moose” Thomas explains, Bullet for My Valentine is still very much ready to rock faces and melt stages.

BLEEDING THROUGH: It’s not often that a band’s sixth album is their most intense, violent, and exhilarating to date, but the new self-titled record from Bleeding Through is exactly that. With a new guitarist, new record label, and renewed fire in their bellies, the band remains as honest and bullshit free as they’ve ever been. Vocalist Brandan Schieppati fills us in on life in Bleeding Through.

ATTACK ATTACK!
has had more than its fair share of difficulties. The metalcore, post-hardcore band from Ohio hasn’t let that stop them, and instead they have grown even stronger and persevered. If their summer wasn’t going to be eventful enough as it is, the band is also promoting its highly anticipated, new self-titled sophomore effort. Things are looking good for this rising band, according to recently anointed lead vocalist Caleb Shomo.

PIERCE THE VEIL brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes have shared the dream of rock stardom since they first started banging out tunes together in their teenage years. Through trial and tribulation, sacrifice, and ultimately success, Vic (vocals, guitar) and Mike (drums) have seen that dream come to fruition. After making an impact with the band’s debut, A Flair for the Dramatic, progressive post-rockers Pierce the Veil returns with Selfish Machines.

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN: Guitarist, lone original member, and tireless workaholic Ben Weinman has weathered everything from lineup turmoil and near financial ruin to crippling personal injury while spearheading the creation of some of the most vibrant and vital metal hardcore. This trend continues on Option Paralysis, as Weinman discusses the band's new lease on life, culture dilution, and the value of vintage thrash and death metal.

PARKWAY DRIVE hit with a sledgehammer force on Horizons, ensuring that all who were exposed to the album had to sit up and take notice of the five Australians hell bent on stirring mosh pits into an apoplectic frenzy everywhere they went. The band recently headed into the studio to record their much anticipated follow-up Deep Blue, which threatens to be one of the defining releases of the year. Vocalist Winston McCall tells us more.

IN FEAR AND FAITH: The members of In Fear and Faith have made a commitment to promoting uplifting messages and positivity in their music. The band is poised to build upon its past success, with the new album, Imperial, as well as summer slots on the Rise Records tour and the juggernaut Warped Tour. Ramin Niroomand says fans should prepare themselves for an intense concert experience and an equally compelling album.
