EMAROSA: Jonny Craig is spending the afternoon playing video games. The vocalist of pop rock sextet Emarosa is in dire need of some relaxation after waking up early to catch a flight from England back to the States. Although the singer despises sitting in one place for lengthy periods, this will be the only free time he has before the group is off on another tour where they are promoting their new self-titled sophomore set on Rise Records. Unlike their previous album, this one represents the true Emarosa sound—colorful melodies, heartfelt vocals, and lyrics inspired by the intense breakup of Craig and his ex-girlfriend.

THE ACACIA STRAIN: Hailing from the same New England stomping grounds as Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, and Shadows Fall, the four man wrecking crew has eschewed the melodies and dynamics of the area’s signature sound in favor of delivering some of the heaviest sonic violence currently unleashed upon the world. We caught up with towering vocalist Vincent Bennett to gain an insight into Wormwood’s darkness, the continuing importance of the underground in modern metal, and why their music can only have come from one place.

Juan Juarez discusses the plot of Exiled to Earth, the band’s maturation, and how Bonded by Blood fits into today’s bustling thrash world.
NORMA JEAN: Metalcore mainstay Norma Jean has firmly settled into its position as one of the elders of the scene after 13 years and four very popular albums. For the Grammy nominated band’s latest album, Meridional, Norma Jean decided to further explore its experimental leanings. Vocalist Cory Brandan discusses the new record during a break in the band’s hectic schedule.
CEPHALIC CARNAGE: The band is refreshed and making a return with a new album, their sixth, entitled Misled by Certainty. We managed to pull guitarist Steve Goldberg away from the internet long enough to discuss certainty’s uncertainty, outlandish concepts, and coddled guitarists.
STICK TO YOUR GUNS: The Hope Division is not only the Orange County, California band’s most ambitious release yet, it will easily go down as one of this year’s best melodic hardcore albums. Vocalist Jesse Barnett talks about the band’s lyrical themes, studio experiences, signing with Sumerian Records, and more.
MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE: The dedication and work ethic of MyChildren MyBride has not gone unnoticed, as the band has built a massive and loyal following. MyChildren MyBride hit Atlanta’s Glow in the Dark Studio to record their latest endeavor, Lost Boy, and guitarist Robert Bloomfield discusses the new album.
NEVERMORE: Warrel Dane is refreshingly honest. The Seattle based singer has remained one of the genre’s most heralded vocal forces for two decades. Dane isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, either, ushering in Nevermore’s latest post-thrash platter, The Obsidian Conspiracy.
