COVER STORY

SLEEPING WITH SIRENS: It has been a rapid rise to the top for Sleeping with Sirens. After exploding onto the post-hardcore scene with the taut song cycle With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear, they turned up the pop punk dial on Letís Cheers to This. Arguably a curve ball, their acoustic EP, If You Were a Movie, This Would Be Your Soundtrack, primed the band for the chart topping success of their third full-length album, Feel. Vocalist Kellin Quinn talks about Feel, the so-called scene, the bandís meteoric ascent, and, of course, his feelings.

IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWS
BORN OF OSIRIS:
At the forefront of the latest wave of technical heaviness, Born of Osiris has worked their asses off to prove that they are the real deal. The Chicago sextet threw themselves into the sessions for their third full-length, determined to build upon everything that made The Discovery such a riveting record. We caught up with guitarist Lee McKinney and vocalist Ronnie Canizaro to gain an insight as to what went into the bandís new album.

WE CAME AS ROMANS has gone from a promising up-and-comer to an established powerhouse. When it came time for album number three, the band decided it was the right time to take some chances. Stepping away from the edgier, modern metalcore sound in favor of a sleeker, more accessible sound, Tracing Back Roots turned out to be well worth the risk. Joshua Moore opens up about the message and method behind the madness.

DEVILDRIVER: Ten years into the bandís career, DevilDriver has birthed their sixth and possibly best album to date, Winter Kills. Overloaded with titanic riffs, insidiously catchy melodies, and the always powerful roar of Dez Fafara, it challenges anyone to get up and deny the potency of the band. We spoke to Fafara about this process, why there is magic to this record, and the aspirations of DevilDriver as they move ever forward.

ATTILA: Partying isnít a traditional metal motif. The winks and nods are becoming clearer on About That Life, as Attilaís breakdown punctuated music is coagulating into a heavier, more cohesive whole. And it sounds like theyíre having a hell of a fun time making it, according to frontman Chris ďFronzĒ Fronzak.

NORMA JEAN pushed themselves to the brink in terms of process and preparedness all in the name of attempting to top their previous work. Says frontman Cory Brandan Putman about the creation of the bandís sixth album Wrongdoers, ďWe were being really picky on this album, not cutting any corners at all.Ē

NEW YEARS DAY: With Victim to Villain, the bandís second full-length, things seem to be falling into place for the Orange County quintet. In a frank conversation, vocalist Ashley Costello talks about dealing with confrontation and how standing her ground transformed her from victim to villain.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER: Everblack is the bandís most accessible yet intricate record to date. Founding vocalist Trevor Strnad spoke with us about Everblack and the past, present, and future of The Black Dahlia Murder.

I SEE STARS: The Michigan six piece is releasing their fourth full-length, New Demons, an exceptional and refined iteration of their post-rock sound. Vocalist Devin Oliver talks about the bandís trajectory, lyrical themes, and the genre parsing of pop, electronica, and metal.

REVOCATION: Metal fans everywhere immediately took notice of the bandís relentless attack and blend of high-octane thrash and death metal, and the bandís fourth full-length expands upon an already diversified sound. David Davidson explores the ins and outs of the bandís newest beast.
