ASKING ALEXANDRIA: Along with their newfound maturity came the chance to take some real risks and, when it came time for record number three, the band broke away from the breakdowns, screams, and other metalcore-ism that sent their fans into a tizzy for two albums. As the band began work on what would become From Death to Destiny, they focused more on a remarkable progression and dedication as songwriters. When people look back at what Asking Alexandria has accomplished, this will be remembered as the album that marked a new beginning in a bandís career. Ben Bruce and Danny Worsnop go in-depth on how it all came together and how things nearly fell apart.

Awakening launched blessthefall onto the charts and into the ears of hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe. This year the band recently dropped Hollow Bodies, their ravenously awaited follow-up, to ferocious acclaim and sales that ushered them straight into the Top 20. We sat down with frontman Beau Bokan to get the inside story on Hollow Bodies and his not so humble 10 year plan.

RED FANG: Somewhere between the months of international touring and brilliant video making, the Portland, Oregon based beer rockers found a block of time to crank out album number three, Whales and Leeches. We spoke with bassist/vocalist Aaron Beam and guitarist/vocalist Bryan Giles moments after the band came home from a European/Russian tour to discuss changing visuals, sonics, and lifestyles.

PROTEST THE HERO: For the last dozen years, the bandís rocked everything from finger tapping guitar riffs with soaring power metal vocals to every instrument is percussion metalcore breakdowns, often within the same song. Rody Walker, founding vocalist of Protest the Hero, talks about the music business, his evolution as a singer, and the bandís new record, Volition.

SKELETONWITCH: For 10 years the Ohio quintet has churned out uncompromising blackened thrash. Their fifth record, Serpents Unleashed, is no different, at least not in an obvious way. But there are layers of nuance beneath the bandís familiar patina of heavy metallic reverie. Chance Garnette discusses the recording, artwork, and sound of Serpents Unleashed.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH shoved a stick of dynamite into the rulebook and blew it straight to hell. With a wealth of new songs, they elected to put out all of the new material across two new full-length albums, The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1 and 2. Guitarist Zoltan Bathory gives us the inside scoop, plus a few survival strategies for life on the road.

AUGUST BURNS RED: Ten years and five albums into their career, August Burns Red has never sounded better. With their latest release, Rescue & Restore, fans were confronted by a record that boasted all the elements they fell in love but painted on a far bigger canvas. We caught up with guitarist JB Brubaker to take a look into what drives the quintet at this stage of the game.

THE DEFILED: Industrial metalcore crew The Defiled is back with Daggers, a far more intense and personal record. Decamping to Floridaís Audiohammer Studios, The Defiled threw everything into Daggers, venting the frustrations built-up over two years struggling as an up-and-coming band. We caught up with programmer/keyboardist The AvD to get the lowdown.
