COVER STORY

ISSUES: Starting out as a high concept metalcore/pop crossover act and evolving into a hybrid that blurs the lines between rock, pop, R&B, jazz, funk, metal, and, in a couple of cases, gospel and country, Issues is that rare breed of band. While many passed off 2014 self-titled debut as a fun, if limiting, gimmick, their new follow-up, Headspace, isnít as easy to dismiss. The hooks are too strong, and the strength of dual vocalists Tyler Carter and Michael Bohn is undeniable. Carter and Bohn discuss their myriad of influences, experiments, and decisions behind the bandís eclectic, eccentric, and electric Headspace.

IN-DEPTH INTERVIEWS
A DAY TO REMEMBER
has created a legacy of modern rock royalty because of their signature blend of infectious choruses and brutal breakdowns. With the bandís sixth studio album, Bad Vibrations, frontman Jeremy McKinnon opens up on the sheer rawness of the record and just what it is that makes A Day to Remember such an impressive live act.

HELLYEAH: Five albums in nine years is an impressive feat for any band, and with Unden!able, Hellyeah has never sounded hungrier. Powered by Vinnie Paulís rhythmic battery, a truckload of titanic riffs, and the unique larynx of frontman Chad Gray, the band holds nothing back. We caught up with Gray to take a look behind the scenes.

THE COLOR MORALE: Driven by the desire to keep bettering themselves, The Color Morale is unlikely to stagnate any time soon. Returning with Desolate Divine, they have once again raised the stakes. We spoke to lead vocalist Garret Rapp to get the inside story on everything that went into Desolate Divine.

BEARTOOTH: Sometimes, like in the case of Beartoothís second album, Aggressive, a rock solid band delivers a rock solid album without much drama, complications, or controversy. Vocalist Caleb Shomo, the man behind the music, discusses all things Aggressive.

RINGWORM: The thrashing, smashing force known as Ringworm has returned with Snake Church, and it just might be their most defiantly abrasive and atmospheric release to date. Founding vocalist Human Furnace talks about the new album and how the band has kept its consistency for over 20 years.

BILLY TALENT is a band that has always felt like an underdog, standing up for the little guy while embodying the true spirit of rock Ďní roll, and speaking with bassist Jonathan Gallant, itís clear that Afraid of Heights is a sociopolitical, highly personal album.

ISLANDER: Their blistering sophomore campaign, Power Under Control, arranges their grooves around a concept as intricate as it is heavy. We met up with vocalist and founder Mikey Carvajal to discuss the new album, Islanderís steroidal live show, and the curse of rap metal.
