What is Outburn?

Where can I buy Outburn?
Outburn is on sale nationwide throughout the US and Canada at thousands of newsstand locations everywhere magazines are sold. Click the "Where to Buy" link at the bottom of the page for a partial list of locations that carry Outburn.

How do I change my mailing address for a subscription?
Please email your new address to with "Change of Address" as the subject, or mail us a note to our PO Box address at least THREE weeks in advance. Outburn is not responsible for misdirected mail or obligated to replace missing issues if proper notice of your address change is not given in advance.

When will I receive my online order for issue(s) or free CD?
Orders for most in-stock items will be processed and mailed within 2 to 3 business days. Please allow 3 - 4 weeks for delivery in the US.

How often is Outburn Magazine published?
Outburn is published on a bi-monthly schedule with five issues per year, and therefore the first issue of your subscription may take up to 10 weeks to receive after placing your order.

Do you ship Outburn to countries other than the US or Canada?
Unfortunately, the United States Postal Service has discontinued Economy shipping to foreign countries, and mailing costs have more than doubled (a single issue now costs approximately $10 or more to mail outside of the US and Canada). If you would like to pay for the additional postage to order back issues or start a subscription, please email us at and we will quote you the appropriate price for your order.

What is your return policy?
All sales are final. Subscriptions, free CDs, back issues, and all magazines are non-refundable. Outburn is not responsible for mishandled mail or delays caused by the United States Postal Service. If you receive a damaged issue, contact us to authorize the return/exchange in question within seven days of your receipt. If you have received the wrong product, please contact us within seven days of receiving the product to authorize an exchange.

Why do Outburn back issues #7, #14, and #20 cost so much?
We have recently unarchived a few copies of these previously sold-out issues for online sale only. The higher prices for these collectors issues reflect the extremely limited quantities available.

Can you confirm that you received my music submission?
No. Due to the enormous amount of music submissions and inquiries, we are not able to reply to everyone.

What are your ad rates and deadlines?

Is Outburn looking for writers and photographers?
Outburn is always accepting applications from well qualified music writers and experienced music photographers. Due to the large number of inquiries, the size of our current writing and photography staff, and our very busy production schedule, we are not able to reply to everyone. We do not send out writer or photographer submission guidelines, and unsolicited materials will not be returned.
Writers: Music writers specializing in interviews, articles, or reviews may send published samples to our PO Box or email us a brief letter at Please include your credentials and the type of music/bands you are interested in covering. We do not accept or print any unsolicited work.
Photographers: Photographers specializing in band portraits (on location and in studio) may send examples to our PO Box or email us a brief letter with your website address. Please include your credentials, where you are located, and a list of bands that you have already photographed.

Does Outburn hire interns?
Sorry, but we do not offer any internships at this time.
